PREREQUISITE: Finished Interview Unit (completed reflections and vocabulary) Come up with an idea for a news story (by Sept 22), and consider what style of news story you want.

 

Create a page labeled:  News / Documentary

(This page will have your news pitch (due. Feb 2) at least one film (your news story.)  A 500 word write up of what you learned.  Daily notes and Vocabulary)

Friday Feb. 2 Put News Pitch ideas in your News Documentary page

Monday Feb.. 5  Get in groups and plan story (site scout / nail down interview times / research )

Tuesday Feb. 6  Begin filming

Wednesday Feb. 7  work on News Story

Thursday Feb. 8  Work on News Story

Friday Feb. 9  Wrap up first news story

Monday Feb. 12 Work on second story if you can

Tuesday Feb. 13    Submit News Story with copy for the anchors

 

EVERYTHING WILL BE GRADED Thursday Feb. 15

 

In a group, you will schedule an interview, shoot film, edit, and use appropriate B-Roll to create a minute to minute and a half news story. 

Export, upload to Vimeo and embed into your portfolio. 

Under the film embedded in your portfolio you will write about your experience making this news piece. As before, the written piece will need to be a bit more detailed than the plushie films as you have now had more exposure to film making.  (Here is a list of questions for you to consider when you are writing about your film)
